Waverley Small Businesses Watch Rents, Foot Traffic And Weekend Spending
Independent shops across the Waverley local government area say rent, energy costs and weekend foot traffic are the numbers they watch closest.

Across Bondi, Bondi Beach, Bondi Junction, Bronte, Tamarama and surrounding suburbs, small business operators describe a winter trading environment that is steady but tight on margin.
Retailers in shopfronts off Campbell Parade, Bondi Road, Hall Street and Macpherson Street say they treat weekday locals as their baseline and weekend visitors as upside.
Service businesses such as physios, hairdressers and pilates studios report more predictable winter bookings than hospitality, although several note that membership churn picks up after the new year.
Operators consistently flag commercial rent, electricity and insurance as the three biggest cost pressures, ahead of wages, and several said they have renegotiated leases over the past twelve months.
Waverley Council has continued to promote local high streets through signage, events and small grants programs, and operators say visibility on Google and Instagram matters as much as any council program for new customers.
