Dover Heights Lookouts Remind Visitors Why Coastal Safety Still Matters
The Dover Heights cliffs and reserves offer some of the best views in the eastern suburbs, but coastal safety remains a year-round responsibility.

The lookouts along the Dover Heights cliffline, including Raleigh Reserve and Rodney Reserve, are among the most striking viewpoints in the eastern suburbs, with uninterrupted ocean horizons to the south and east.
Council and emergency services have repeatedly reminded visitors to stay behind fencing, keep dogs on leads and supervise children at all times, particularly in wet or windy weather when the edge can be unstable.
Local residents say weekend visitor numbers have grown over recent years, partly driven by the views, photography and the Federation Cliff Walk that links the reserves.
Lifeline operates the Crisis Support Service on 13 11 14 and signage along the cliffs reminds people that help is available. If you or someone you know needs support, the line is open twenty-four hours.
For visitors, the safest way to enjoy the lookouts is to stay on formed paths, treat fencing as the boundary, and remember that the best views are well inside the safe zone.
