Bondi Junction interchange handles tens of thousands of journeys each weekday, combining the eastern suburbs rail terminus with a major bus interchange that feeds Bondi Beach, Bronte, Tamarama, Watsons Bay and the south-east.

Commuters travelling from the beaches typically combine a short bus leg on routes like the 333, 380 or 381 with a train into the city, and many factor in extra time on weekends when bus frequencies and visitor numbers shift.

Westfield Bondi Junction sits directly above the interchange, which makes the precinct both a transport node and a retail destination, and that overlap can make peak afternoons feel especially busy.

Cyclists and e-bike riders increasingly use Oxford Street, Birrell Street and the Bondi Road corridor to bypass slow bus traffic, although hills around Waverley remain a barrier for casual riders.

If you are new to the area, the simplest rule is to plan around the interchange rather than against it: most eastern suburbs trips will route through Bondi Junction at least once.
